Oh, what an amazing trip that was! Landed in Calgary, rented a car and spent our first night in Canmore.

A lemon-coloured Austin Metropolitan

Second day was a bit of a roadtrip to Jasper. Saw a lot, then saw very little for a long time (wildfires).

As far as the eye can see
The thick-set skies were smoke-filled
Lake Peyto

And then made it to Jasper, where the 2024 wildfires destroyed one-third of the town. Devastating. Rebuilding has started.

My love for trains and bridges never ceases to get me excited, and this was one trip I was so looking forward to.

Jasper to Vancouver in two days with an overnight stop in Canada’s desert: Kamloops.

The vestibule was great!

Day two took us from Kamloops to Vancouver where we followed Lake Kamloops for a very long time, then went on to follower the Thompson river for a very long time and then we saw it merge with the Johnson river. Amazing.

See that hole? We drove through that!

Witness to a number of wildfires, nature’s way of realignment
