Now that all the fundamental Zonta decisions have been made, Beatrix & I decided to go on a day trip to Moreton Island, Aboriginal name: Mulgumpin (pronounced Moor-gum-pin)! It was a very early start! Uber to bus, bus to boat, boat to island.

The ferry to Moreton Island
Snorkeling first

There were fish as far as the eyes could see. Breams aplenty. Beautiful.

Breams

Then for some sandboarding in the desert. It’s not officially a desert because more than 1500 mm of rain come down, per year. Officially it would have to be less than 500 mm! A meteorite landed here some 30 thousand years ago.

The light, amazing

Oh, what a dune!

A simple piece of wood, waxed before departure and held very tightly while doing 65 km per hour head first. Whoooooooooosh.

The climb(ers)

It was a very nice and sunny final day… now the ferry home and time to pack. I begin my 28-hour journey home midnight tonight.
