Christmas 2024 gift turns into reality. It took some planning and it took a while until we made the trip happen. But it happened.

We flew to London Gatwick, spent the afternoon at Borough Market and had dinner at Nopi. Just as delicious as last time.

And at 21:15 we hopped onto the Caledonian Express from Euston to Aberdeen.

Room 4, one double en suite!
Better than bunk beds any day

The train service was good, the coffee wasn’t! Home is where the coffee is always good.

Train back down to Edinburgh. Rental car took us along the Fife Coastal Route East. Beautiful coasts, and landscape.

Highland cows

The distillery was amazing. The Öod tiny houses (4) were an absolute delight and ingeniously built. Ours had a separate sauna. And the clever mirrored facades made the already beautiful view doubly so.

The houses are named after potatoes, I think.

We walked the Lunan Bay beach. The weather was on our side.

A very clean beach

And the end of our just-the-two-of-us trip ended at Dunnottar Castle. The castle from the Braveheart film.

And that was that. Legacy building. If there’s no photo, it didn’t happen.
