The first trip in 2026. And it was all about the girls. Santa gave Johanne tickets for the Cirque de Soleil Alizé show and it was absolutely brilliant.

Berlin was more like Siberia

It was freezing and Mr Frost was keen to keep us all huddled up. We took public transport everywhere and while we waited, we enjoyed talking and simply spending some time together. Believe it or not, the Deutsche Bahn was kind to us with little delays there and back.

Bielefeld train station now has good coffee to go

We stayed at the Telegrafenamt, and it was just down my street, as in aesthetically pleasing to the eye, lovely staff, and nice food. The bed was cosy, and the room had all the amenities we needed.

When my son was younger we travelled a city a year (London, Helsinki, Barcelona, … can’t remember the rest), and now it’s Johanne’s turn. Paris and Berlin done. Let’s see where next.

Humboldt Forum had a great exhibition about Berlin.

Culture and food is always a fundamental part of the way I travel. I’d like my children to appreciate that, too. And the only way to do that is to expose them to it. Avoid the word museum and you have a good chance!

Thank you Berlin, you were fun.

Here’s to adventures. And many more of them.
