Finally had a good night’s sleep, but not sure whether it was down to the beer, the gin, or the fact that I walked 2,5 kms back to the hotel yesterday evening! No matter, it worked.

It’s time to move onto leg two of my trip. Six nights in Malaysia came and went. Selamat tinggal as the say here. My 25 kgs of suitcase and I are ready for Singapore.

But before I move on, I’d like to reflect on these past six days.

Culture: The Malay culture is diverse. If you’re not concentrating many people look the same, and then upon a closer look, everyone is very different, after all. Approx. 65 % of the population professes to the Islamic faith, some 19 % to Buddhism, then follows Christianity, Hinduism. This country is mocktail heaven; so many non-alcoholic drinks to choose from!

People: For those of you who know me, you’ll know I am dedicated to the act of politeness. The Brit in me seeks friendliness wherever I go. This country has mastered that. Everyone is extremely polite, and kind, and willing to help and assist. There are European countries that could do with a big portion of that. Just saying!

Climate: Hot & sticky to start with, then warm & cosy, and sometimes even colder than ice. The air-con has you freezing, the outside air sweating. My body took a few days to adapt. Last night I even slept with my balcony door open (more because the sound of the waves was so nice).

Thank you to video calls. They make things easier! And thank you to my loved ones for checking in with me every day. ❤️

I miss you.
